Riveting Support Head Tool 22,8

The head of the SK9-NK, SK13-NK riveting hammer is used for riveting of indirect connections (joint parts are firmly connected by rivets) and mainly for fixed riveting, i.e rivets carry only force loads. They are used in the production of steel structures of all kinds, e.g. bridges, cranes, columns, building frames, roofs.

When riveting, the shank of the rivet is inserted into the hole in the joined materials, the head of the rivet must overlap the edge of the hole in a sufficient area. On one side, the rivet leans on the head of the riveting support, and on the other side, the closing head is forged by the head of the riveting hammer.

For steel rivets, where there are increased demands on the load-bearing capacity or tightness of the joint, or when the diameter of the shaft is greater than 14 mm, hot riveting is carried out. A white-hot rivet (approx. 1000°C) is inserted into the hole. The rivet shank is rushed to sufficiently fill the hole. Then the closing head is forged with a SK-NK riveting hammer at a temperature of 600°C (dark red color). As the rivet cools, it shrinks and thus pulls the riveted parts together.
